David Jolly was a speaker at an International Conference several years ago. I remember how impressed I was with his understanding of the issues RESULTS highlighted.

A great description of our progressive strategy of building champions
Cynthia Levin

“progressive” meaning taking steps toward progress...not the partisan meaning 🙂
Roxanne Allen
45:59
In these days of virtual campaigning and written questions, what is best format for powerful questions?
Leslye Heilig
49:43
you can also have multiple folks asking about the same topic but using somewhat different language
Lynne Patalano
51:04
Do you have suggestions for those of us with MoCs who rarely have Town Halls, not even virtual… and for those of us in places where all the print news is consolidated under corporate newspapers which seldom take local LTEs?
yanick perodin
52:30
iS it useful to find out aout the congress past interest in our issues ?

Karyne Bury (she/her), RESULTS
59:48
He looks familiar ;)
Anne Child
01:01:41
It engages new advocates... gets them in action, making a differnce
Ken Patterson, RESULTS (he/him)
01:02:06
Right on Anne
Roxanne Allen
01:02:23
We first made contact with one of our greatest volunteers because someone asked a question about education in a small campaign event. Love you, Sandy!
Anne Child
01:03:52
townhallproject.com seems understaffed in updating their website.
Eugene Martin
01:05:05
If a town hall is held to discuss a specific issue, unrelated to a RESULTS issue, is it appropriate to raise this issue with the M of C ?
Maxine Thomas
01:05:23
I love seeing new advocates take their first steps and watching them blossom. As well as walk alongside them to support their journey! We have some powerful advocates here at results.
Karyne Bury (she/her), RESULTS
01:05:55
Yes, consistency is key, great activity to divide up amongst folks in your group
Oscar Lanzi
01:06:43
Here in the Midwest we are seeing fewer letters to the editor published in newspapers, drying up a media source for our advocacy. Have you seen this and how to solve?
Maxine Thomas
01:07:04
I ran across my Senator at a mobile food pantry last month and I had a chance to talk to him one on one for over 15 minutes!
Anne Child
01:07:14
Oscar, it's happening everywhere
Roxanne Allen
01:07:21
Many campaign events request money but won’t turn people away if they don't donate.
Mary Albertson
01:08:56
A fundraising event may say tickets are $100 but they usually will take a smaller donation-ask
Ken Patterson, RESULTS (he/him)
01:09:01
Response to this question: 1) From Eugene Martin to Everyone 12:44 PMIf a town hall is held to discuss a specific issue, unrelated to a RESULTS issue, is it appropriate to raise this issue with the M of C ? Thought: find a way to bridge from the issue being discussed to the RESULTS issue: much like a letter to the editor.
Diana Tyree-Eddy
01:09:24
If you belong to the candidate’s party, attend their party monthly meetings….often on zoom. My congressman attends our local meeting regularly and I get to ask him questions.

I was at two Fund Raisers for Tim Ryan (candidate for Ohio Senator) and was able to talk to for a few minutes and left a folder with info for RESULTS and a printout of the CTC laser talk. Then I reminded him at the second event handing him an index card with a few notes. I may see him again before election day to hand him info on the Global fund. Because he is already a Rep in northern Ohio, he will be valuable in the lame duck period.
Leslye Heilig
01:14:46
My friend Chris Noble from Right to Health is a wonderful resource
Keisha McVey | she/her | RESULTS
01:15:35
Response to Oscar Lanzi: Here in the Midwest we are seeing fewer letters to the editor published in newspapers, drying up a media source for our advocacy. Have you seen this and how to solve? - Keep trying and branch out to other papers in your state. Pay attention to the content of the LTEs getting published and see if you can use any of them as a hook for yours.
Ken Patterson, RESULTS (he/him)
01:16:13
And try for some of the smaller, local papers. Folks are still getting published.
Beth Wilson, (she/her), Olalla, WA
01:18:06
I am on the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (google it!) state email list and was invited to one of their luncheons at which my MOC spoke. The USGLC staff there asked me if I had any questions for our MOC, so of course I did! I was able to write it down (thanking him for his past excellent and important support and asking him to support the READ Act and the TB bill). There were about 100+ community leaders in the audience. After I asked the question, I could see him writing it down. The next day his aide contracted our point person to get the bill numbers so he can sign on. And he did sign on.
Ken Patterson, RESULTS (he/him)
01:19:41
Awesome example, Beth--joining the events of other organizations is a great way to be heard too
Meredith Dodson (she/her), RESULTS
01:21:54
There are great talking points in our Action Sheets -- which you can use to help others take action too! See https://results.org/volunteers/monthly-actions/.
Meredith Dodson (she/her), RESULTS
01:23:34
And many more resources, including "laser talks" so you don't have to write out what you'd say at a town hall per Rep Jolly's remarks, at: https://results.org/resources/2022-fall-campaign-resources.
