Hi all! Anna Martin calling in from Washington, DC; RPCV Kenya

16:27
Teresa Rugg, RPCV Cameroon 90-94, RESULTS activist living in Snohomish WA

16:36
A number of my NPCA colleagues wanted to join, so the recording will be nice to have. Thanks!

17:09
Catherine Weber, Malawi 1994-96

17:45
Hi! Amy Morros, Mali, 1996-98

21:03
What a great group—welcome everyone.

24:31
The education gap really struck me. Elementary school students in countries where I have worked and lived had a fraction of the hours of instruction that we enjoy. Not to mention resources, teacher absences, etc.

24:59
Jule here. I’m driving sorry!

25:26
I served in Micronesia

27:01
Absolutely Dan!

28:03
And I’m a RESULTS activist in NE Florida.

32:53
Great points Jule!

34:16
RPCVs in general are very eager to make a difference in the world, but often lack the structure within their affiliate groups to do so. The RESULTS group has an enormous opportunity to tap into this nationwide network of do-gooders.

38:59
That was a great op ed, I will share the link

39:34
Love that idea!

39:42
Yes, great idea!

41:30
Excited about making those connections to other affiliate groups, Dan. We have connected on doing some things with RPCVs4EA, the CDC group, and the OR affiliate group.

42:18
As someone who is very sensitive to dental work, I am so appreciative for you being on tonight Teresa, thank you!

42:47
Thanks Teresa for coming on and sharing despite the discomfort you likely are experiencing!

47:46
Thanks for joining us in spite of the pain, Teresa!

48:14
Welcome Chris!

49:04
Teresa, you have a great story! We’d love to fuel that hunger that so many RPCVs feel to affect positive change.

49:21
Thanks Teresa for a great, compelling story. Getting a call from a staff member is quite an accomplishment.

51:21
that was great Teresa!

53:29
Thank you so much Teresa!

01:00:39
And If I remember correctly, the 500 million doses were primarily Astra Zeneca vaccines, which were found to be less effective.

01:01:05
Well-stated, Ken.

01:02:11
As tax-payers, we are stakeholders in these Pharma companies. They need to share the formula and partner with developing countries.

01:02:35
I think that is right, Lester

May I suggest rather than writing a letter to the editor, write on your Senators' and Congressman's FB pages. You get counts of responses there. Furthermore, you can write as frequently as you want but all editors I know only allow a letter once every 3 weeks. Why not?

01:11:14
I think we can do both.

01:11:27
Both is a great strategy!

01:13:57
Both are great strategies. Letters to the editors are read by hundreds, perhaps thousands of people, and your members of Congress know that.

01:14:20
Goodnight everyone. Thanks to Karyne and Ken and everyone at RESULTS for all your good work.

01:14:31
Take care Dan. Thanks for joining.

01:16:27
Lots of opp's for LTE's outside of your state. Cindy Levin wrote a great blog on that!
