How do I meet with my congressional office? - Shared screen with speaker view
Who can see your viewing activity?
great question! we will likely talk more at length on this webinar - but we aim for face to face meetings, and often do end up meeting with a staffer. but relationships with the staff are key!
Her office was great. Receive a response in a day and a meeting for Feb 1.
Are the "visits" with Members or Staff?
what does letter to the editor referencing your boss mean? Your MOC?
thx, is one more influential than another?
@Ruth - this refers to writing a letter to the editor, and calling out your senator or representative by name in published media, to apply outward pressure on an issue!
woooo way to step up everyone! so great to see many first-time lobbyists :)
PBS had a great section on GAVI tonight!
Where can we find RESULTS’ specific asks on the issues listed on this slide? Have they been revised in the new year?
And thanks for sharing, Kathy and Alicia!
Ishaan - we are working on those materials now!! they will be released ASAP. however, we do have a RESULTS blog with an overview/preview of what's to come: https://results.org/blog/a-look-at-results-campaigns-in-2021/
Excellent, thank you, Alicia!
where can I find some help to write a LTE ?
@Eman -- few things 1) there are always LTE templates on our Action Center: https://results.org/volunteers/action-center/ 2) we have media specific resources and trainings here: https://results.org/volunteers/media-tools/ 3) and more here: https://results.org/wp-content/uploads/Getting-Published-in-Local-Media-2.pdf
There on some tips in the Action Alerts about LTE. Look under the latest alert: Media Action: Congress must take action to support struggling Americans. Some tips are listed there.
Could we kindly have that link - schedule eg.
What are typical times - 9-5 during office workdays?
Here we are folks: https://results.org/volunteers/lobbying/
@ruth - yes! always 9-5 ET. I think I've done 1 lobby meeting in my 8 years with RESULTS that were outside of these hours haha...
Also LTE tips under "Media Tools" tab on Results website
thanks amber !! ^^
Melissa Cullen - I have a meeting request with Sen Murray. I am in Gig Harbor. Give me a call so we can visit.
Andy - 253-225-7143
Andrew - I have a meeting set up with her office February 1st at 3:30
Great - So let's talk
Andrew - shall touch bases on Saturday if that is okay
This is helpful information.
yes sat is good
take a pic and tweet/tag your MOCs in a social post later :)
good question Deborah!
As a follow-up to Deborah, is there a particular RESULTS staff member we should contact for that history?
Jos Linn (our presenter!) Lisa Marchal, and Ken Patterson are all great staff to ask... You can find their emails online: https://results.org/staff-board Your group leader and Regional Coordinator can also be resources for requests like that
Great, thanks so much again, Alicia!
i am also happy to help fulfill requests or make connections !! always available to help
i did a "face to face" with my representative on zoom this year! it was great, we were able to get 15 volunteers there because of accessibility // virtual meetings
I have found that using the local district director to get action from the DC scheduler helps get an answer.
How long should our meetings last ?
Yep, this is great, very helpful to have a practical example.
This is very helpful. Thank you kindly!
RESULTS normally issues a few laser talks to use as examples to help you write your own! we'll be releasing some as part of the first 100 days campaign/kick-off
Thank you so much, I agree this was really helpful!
Great training! Thank you!
