I recently read that $8.4 trillion are lost due to inheritance tax policies. How far would balancing CTC with changes to the death benefits to the wealthy?

Would the wealth include social security earnings?

The term "child tax credit" is fairly neutral, so maybe it could be retermed to something more positive, like a "child investment credit", and associate it with it being a tax cut.

Would there be provisions to ensure that low-income individuals in wealthier areas would be helped as well?

I saw that Joe Manchin said that BBB is dead. Do we know if he is still really interested in moving forward? Can we accuse him of increasing taxes by not passing BBB? Any lawmaker does not like being labeled as a tax increaser.

@Lester, Sen. Manchin's statement, which he clarified, was about the House version of BBB. That is dead. But he has also said he is interested in getting something else passed.

@Lester, when Sen Manchin says "Build Back Better is dead", he specifically clarified that referring to the House version -- and has been proactive in talking about some policies (CTC and beyond) moving forward

And Sen Manchin is very clear he supports the revenues in the Build Back Better framework -- his hesitancy is not about the tax policies that make the tax code more fair by increasing taxes from wealthy people and corporations

Thanks for the clarification. There is always hope! I need to keep in mind that after years of lobbying, we finally got the CTC and EITC expansions that we were asking for. So I hope that we are not too far from getting those made permanent.

On prior questions on TB: TB still gets relatively lower overall proportion of Global Fund funding but there is an agreement that if the Global Fund gets increased funding the percentage to TB will go up at higher funding levels. and we are also working to get some added funding to some key countries for TB.
