You might be interested to know that the good side of a bad bill might be to invalidate that. The UT legislature has a a bill in the works that strips everyone but the legislature of the right to regulate firearms.

In my pre-retired role sometimes I had to loudly agree with someone who thought I was on the opposite side of the issue. And I was. This loud agreement created some confusion and oddly agreement. People aren't always rational.
