Jami-Lin Williams

These workers were *always* essential - such an important point.
Jamy Rentschler (she/her)
35:33
What a great initiative!
Rick
35:58
is anyone else experiencing poor reception?
Virginia Vogts
36:15

Avi
37:28

Thomas Nathaniel
40:12
covid affects people living in poor areas more.
Oscar Lanzi
41:29
The term "essential workers" has a very broad official definition, as my own experience with my (high-paying) job demostrates. How do we assure that policies aimed at "essential workers" reach those who are most essential and often least affluent?
Lindsay K. Saunders (she/her) Raleigh NC
43:23
For those not familiar, CTC = Child Tax Credit and EITC = Earned Income Tax Credit.
Meredith Dodson
43:41
In addition to RESULTS longstanding work on expanding EITC and CTC broadly, fyi policymakers have been discussing CTC expansion this week as part of COVID negotiations: https://www.rollcall.com/2020/10/01/pelosi-hits-gop-on-tax-disputes-in-coronavirus-relief-talks/?fbclid=IwAR0wVXabGTEaytkw4pRFpdL3TuFtV_TzrBggRYUuFA2GZy73T9RA2-KSW5Y
ANDY CLARKE
44:09
The state of Washington is once again raising their minimum wage that will reach a lot of minimum wage essential workers.
Meredith Dodson
46:09
I know many of you have been educating members of Congress over years, and over the past few months, about how many children in the lowest-income families are missed by the Child Tax Credit (CTC). Especially needed for low-income families now. And state work is key (as some may know, state EITCs and CTCs are often tied to the national EITC and CTC)
Annum Sadana
46:12
Do you think that COVID negotiations will resume despite house passing HEROES 2.0 and no action from the Senate?
Bruce Kessler
46:57
Where can we find the Rockefeller Foundation's evidence of the success of EITC/CTC?
Jami-Lin Williams
47:38
So very sorry for your loss, Mr. Rolley.
Roger
48:01
Any specific Rockefeller "demands" for inclusion in next COVID or "Stimulus" bill?
Meredith Dodson
48:29
So sorry for your loss, Otis.
Meredith Dodson
48:30
Article about the disproportionate impact of COVID19 on Black Americans and other people of color: https://www.motherjones.com/2020-elections/2020/10/biden-debate-covid-black-americans/
Thomas Nathaniel
49:25
the impact of Covid is higher among blacks and Hispanics.
Sue Oehser
50:43
How do get through to the hearts of those in Congress and Senate who seem to be deaf to the cries of the people?
Lynne Patalano
50:54
Wishing for healing and comfort for your family!!
Barbara Weber
50:59
Question for OtisYou've said, "Data can be seductive, but we don’t want data for its own sake; we want data that translates into action."One way that data translates into action is through advocacy for policy change. What have you been seeing among foundations and philanthropists in terms of a trend toward funding for advocacy--especially an anti-poverty advocacy movement like ours?
Oscar Lanzi
53:27
Thank you Otis and condolences for your loss.
Ken Patterson
53:50
Thank you. that was fabulous. We are with you in your work and with your family.
Lindsay K. Saunders (she/her) Raleigh NC
54:03
So touched by everything you've shared today. We need this data and appreciate stories like everything you've shared today. So inspiring, motivating, and chilling at the same time. So sorry for your loss. Thank you for all you're doing. We're in this battle, here to stay and advocate for nonpartisan solutions to close the gaps of inequality in this country and around the world.
Tyler Ball
54:12
Thank you!
Jami-Lin Williams

57:09
Thanks, Joanne & everyone! It was an amazing team effort. We found that people are looking for ways to help those who are struggling during Covid and this gave them a opportunity to be a part of positive change and hope
Ken Patterson
57:32
An incredible 10 years you have had!!
Cynthia Tschampl
58:51
I recently saw a headline that the Administration was going to stop some of these poverty reports; can you say more about that? Real, not real? Which data are we going to lose access to?
Oscar Lanzi
59:53
knock on wood
David Burns
01:00:34
it was interesting that poverty rates seem to be independent of the timing of recessions. This information is counter-intuitive to how we think the "economy" functions.
Meredith Dodson
01:02:12
So the Census Bureau had only planned to do the Census Household Pulse Survey for a few months and then it stopped, they redesigned some of the questions, and resumed in late August. Good explainer on the latest data via CBPP: Tracking the COVID-19 Recession’s Effects on Food, Housing, and Employment Hardships https://www.cbpp.org/research/poverty-and-inequality/tracking-the-covid-19-recessions-effects-on-food-housing-and
Meredith Dodson
01:02:47
we and others did weigh in to advocate that they continue to do the survey, took some pushing
Cynthia Tschampl
01:03:26

Cynthia Tschampl
01:07:59
Can Senators vote remotely? Can House members?
Betsy Skipp
01:08:18
the rent is always due we need long term programs
Marisah De Moll
01:10:22
pretty cool to hear from Rockefeller Foundation today... excited to see whats in store for our meeting
John Fawcett
01:10:47
Current Senate rules do not allow remote voting. House in May changed rules to allow voting by proxy.

Janelle said that so eloquently: "you can't give from an empty vessel. how do you maintain that level of protecting yourself and still caring?"

Just wanted everyone to know that Census 2020 deadline has been extended to its original date of Oct. 31. Wilbur Ross had pushed for Oct. 5, but a California judge overruled him. People in poverty are struggling the most, and some are the hardest to reach by Census enumerators. It’s important to get everyone counted for federal $$ given for roads, schools, healthcare etc depends on the Census count. So do what you can to encourage any who haven’t been found yet to get counted.
