Who can see your viewing activity?
we hear you, in miami we’re working on theses issues.
wow how inspiring
Fabulous opening Qiana!
Go, Quiana! Thank you!
are their bills being introduced to address all of our goals or is that part of our ask?
are we addressing or informing folks about micro credit programs such as domestic grameemn
Betsy, No, we are not working on domestic microcredit.
You can see some housing bills we track here: https://results.org/volunteers/action-center/bill-tracker/?vvsrc=%2fBills
wow why not
but ultimately we often build support for policy proposals that get embedded in broader legislation -- for example, the spending caps deal Congress will negotiate later this spring, or big tax/housing bills we might see in 2021
for those looking for more info on NETWORK's policy agenda NETWORK’s 2020 Vision: Mend the Gaps https://networklobby.org/2020vision/
and the 4 principles here https://networklobby.org/issues/housing/
we’re sharing with. our local commissioners
Anyone know if Fair Housing Improvement Act of 2018 has been reintroduced yet and which reps are sponsoring it? I can only find reference to the 2018 introduction of the Bill
NETWORK's racial wealth and income gap resources https://networkadvocates.org/rwig/
fyi RESULTS also has a scorecard here https://results.org/volunteers/congressional-scorecard/
but not as comprehensive as NETWORKs
will be updating it shortly
In meetings with MOCs, are there specifics we are asking for? Bills out there?
Not yet... though we're really focused on getting a lot of pressure on key negotiators to include a bump in housing asistance in a big spending caps deal. So, urge your members of Congress to tell congressional leaders to lift the spending caps and support a large boost in federal rental assistance.7. In addition, urge policymakers to support bipartisan efforts to ban housing discrimination based on income source to create more opportunities for families.
can see laser talks, leave behinds, action sheets for outreach, etc at https://results.org/topics/housing-home-ownership/
I used these when I spoke to my rep - very helpful https://results.org/volunteers/lobbying/
yep, another way to get to those same resources! :)
efforts to ban housing discrimination=landlords MUST take all sources of income, including section 8?
wow Kathleen amazing
Good question, kathleen!
that's what we want -- but right now that is just true in 1/3 of the country. more https://cbpp.org/research/housing/prohibiting-discrimination-against-renters-using-housing-vouchers-improves-results
But getting poverty to be part of the general dialog is so important. Thanks Kathleen!
